Emmys awards: Nominations for Anurag Kashyap directed ‘Sacred Games’ and ‘Lust stories’ actor Radhika Apte
Mumbai: International Emmy awards has nominated Anurag Kashyap directed and second season of Netflix series Sacred Games for best drama, Lust Stories actor Radhika Apte for best actor and Amazon Prime video’s The Remix. In addition to that UK’s McMafia has been nominated too, in which Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a very significant role. This is the 47the edition of Emmy International Award and will be held on 25 November in New York.
Anurag is in ruptures over these nominations as these offer triple delight to him. First, Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Sacred Games bags nomination in Best Drama category. Second, Lust Stories—directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar—bags nomination for the Best TV movie/mini series and third, Radhika Apte gets nominations for Best Actor–for the part directed by him. Feeling elated and on cloud nine, he poured out his happiness on his Instagram page, “ What a day. 3 Emmy Nominations. 1 lust Stories (best miniseries 2 Sacred Games (best Drama) 3. Radhika Apte ( best actress-Lust
Stories).”
Karan Johar too, who directed a part of anthology movie, Lust Stories, was delighted to hear this news and expressed his joy on Twitter, “So proud and excited that our anthology Lust Stories is nominated at the Emmys.” In his tweet, he also extended his fellow directors Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee and added, “Our quarter rocks. Thanks for the support.” The film has received nominations.
The second season, which features actor Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is competing with Brazil’s Contra Todos (season 3), Germany’s Bad Banks and UK’s McMafia—in which Nawazuddin is an actor—in the Best Drama category. The second season of Sacred Games was directed by Anurag Kashyap and Neeraj Ghaywan. Lust Stories is in the race for the best TV movie/mini series with Brazil’s Se Eu Fechar Os Olhos Agora, Hungary’s Trezor and Australia’s Safe Harbour.
Radhika Apte, who has got nomination for best actor for the part directed by Anurag Kashyap, is vying with Jenna Coleman for The Cry, Marjorie Estiano for Brazil’s Sob Pressao 2 and Marina Gera for Hungary’s Orok Tel in the Best Actor Category.

The first Netflix Original series in India, Sacred Games is a thriller story which revolves around a Mafia and crime lord Ganesh Gaithonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who dares Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan), an unsettled cop, to save the city within 25 days. Lust Stories, on the other hand, is anthology of four stories which revolve around the modern day love its complexities and explores entangled relationships from various perspective.
Emmy Award’s this edition holds a special significance as this time nominations are distributed across 21 countries and in 11 categories, traversing geography, ethnicity, gender and culture. To put in the words of Bruce L. Paisner, President and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts and Science, “The diversity, geographic spread and quality of this year’s nominees is a testament to the increasing wealth of outstanding television being created on a global scale.”
